A Trip to the Pet Store

Here is another two-page comic that was done for U Magazine (Summer 2007 edition). In it we join Bill the Bill as he learns about the financial responsibilities involved in owning a pet. The client was Big Blue Dot.

And here are a few of the rough conceptual sketches I did before
starting work on the comic.

Beware!

This bizarre piece is the result of a drawing exercise I picked up from Goobeetsa's newest blog. I closed my eyes and scribbled randomly on a piece of paper. Then I opened my eyes and tried to pick out objects found among the confusion. And, finally, I created a finished piece of art (or so-called) from what I had found. Explain THIS, Mr. Rorschach!

It was actually a fun exercise, and one I plan to play more with in the future (I've got a couple of others already in the works).

Here's the original scribbles (with the shapes I found outlined for clarity) and the final result:

Jenn & Bueno: Bubblegum Crisis!

The concept for this comes from an illustration I actually did a few years ago. But besides suffering from the embarrassingly poor execution evident in most of my older work (not that my modern stuff is always a peach to look at), the old piece also predated the team up of Jenn & Bueno. But I thought the concept made for a cute picture for the pair.

So I've recreated the picture! Here are Jenn & Bueno having a little trouble with a gumball machine. Well, Jenn's having trouble with it anyway. Bueno doesn't seem to be letting it get to him. Enjoy.

Confetti Catgirl

A fellow deviantART member requested to see herself done as a cartoon. Being the kind and entirely benevolent human being that I am, I decided to accept this commission. Before all was said and done, there was confetti and a Japanese-like "catgirl" costume. And that was that. (Also, there are two versions with alternate hair colors. Amazing.) Enjoy!

Jenn & Bueno: Warm-Up Stretches

So the other day at the park I saw a girl and her dog preparing for a jog. The dog waited anxiously while the girl did some warm-up stretches. I thought it would be awfully silly if the dog was warming up with stretches as well. And then I realized that's just what Bueno would do, and so this piece of mediocre art was conceived and eventually brought forth into the world. Enjoy!

For your benefit and the benefit of future generations, I have
included some of the rough thumbnail sketches as well.
