Harry Potter Sketches (Round Two)

Okay, so this one's a little more than just a sketch. In continuing with my promised effort in creating some Harry Potter character art while currently re-reading the books, here are Harry, Ron and Hermione. And that's about all there is to say about this one! Enjoy.

3 Dudes Turning 30

Tomorow (the 24th) is my 30th birthday. My good friends Richard and Eric are turning 30 right after me (all within a month). So, to commemorate the occasion, I decided to give the three of us the "Simpsons" treatment. That's me in the center, with Richard left and Eric right. Happy Birthday, guys! Hope everyone (not just those depicted) enjoys.

Harry Potter Sketches (Round One)

In anticipation of the new and final book this summer I've begun re-reading the Harry Potter series. I'm currently in book one, and I've been inspired to do some random character sketches as a result of my reading. Hopefully I'll do several rounds of character sketches as I go through each book (and maybe even a few scene illustrations and some color stuff along the way, etc.).

This is the first batch, with Dumbledore, Hagrid, and McGonagall. Some art of Harry and pals should be finding its way here soon enough. In the meantime, enjoy.

Teen Girl Squad!!!

In the spirit of last year's "Srong Bad-Man vs. the Bear Holding a Shark" piece, I decided to once again do a take on some characters from the Homestar Runner gang. This time around I went with the Teen Girl Squad! For those not in the know, the Teen Girl Squad are typically depicted as stick figures drawn and brought to life by Strong Bad, so I decided to give them a more three-dimensional (or at least a slightly less two-dimensional) interpretation. Hope you enjoy!

Jenn & Bueno: Valentines

Valentine's Day can’t come around without me thinking about those little Valentines that you share with your classmates in elementary school. You know the ones—with the popular characters of your choice spouting corny phrases and unbearable puns. Even back when girls had the cooties, there was something fun about those little cards.

So in a fit of nostalgia, I’ve created some Jennifer & Bueno Valentines in just that spirit! I actually had a lot of fun with this project. Hopefully some of the fun I had with them comes through. Enjoy!

--Andrew

Using the ma
gic of Photoshop, I created an unconvincing, fake pile of cards.

But wait! The pile of cards doesn’t have to be unconvincing and fake!
In an added little bit of fun, here are links to higher resolution images of the cards (both the fronts and backs) you can print at actual size, cut out, and share if you feel so inclined.

After all, what better way to say, “I love you” than with a corny Valentine featuring two completely unknown cartoon characters that you printed off the Internet for free?

And finally, since you've come to expect them from me, here are the pencil prelims!

Captain Link Hogthrob

It's Captain Link Hogthrob from the "Pigs in Space" skits on The Muppet Show. Surely you remember? This one was done for a "Captains" themed thread on the Drawing Board.
Enjoy!

Pan's Labyrinth

I finally got to see Pan's Labyrinth this weekend and was really impressed. While painfully brutal and more than a little disturbing, it's also a very well done and darkly beautiful fairy tale for adults. I was inspired to do a sketch this afternoon.

I decided to slap a little color on the sketch using my brand-new Wacom tablet. It's my first time to ever use one, so this was just fooling around for practice, trying to get used to the feel of the pen.
Anyway, here's the sketch. Enjoy.

More Animal Doodles

Just another sampling of random doodles of those same animal characters that have been appearing recently. Enjoy!

--Andrew

The monstrous rabbit in the below doodles is completely random and is
not any
character I'm toying with. Rather, I think while doodling I must've
been
subconsciously thinking of the classic
Bugs Bunny "Hyde and Hare" cartoon

in which he's transformed into a similar creature.
