Animal Cast

Long-time Blog-O! viewers will probably recognize these characters (or versions of them). I've periodically posted sketches and doodles which featured them. Here I've put together a casting call of the characters in question. This was purely for my amusement; a sort of exercise to further develop the characters.

No, this does not mean an actual comic from me is imminent (long-time viewers will have learned that by now, too). And if there is a comic, the looks and names may still change yet. But I thought you might enjoy seeing this anyway.

Any feedback any
one has as to whether these characters are shaping up to be appealing or not is always welcome.

Also, I recently had the honor of seeing Jenn & Bueno interpreted by yet another of my fellow Drawing Board members, Patrick J. Crawley. Here's his interpretation:

They Might Be Giants in Birmingham and Atlanta

I attended a couple of They Might Be Giants shows in the past week. One was a regular, adult show in Birmingham, AL at Workplay. The second was a Special Show for Families at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA.

Both shows were a lot of fun. Rather than clogging this art blog with a lot of pictures as I've done in the past, I'm just sharing a couple of samples here, and have created an entirely separate blog to house all of my TMBG concert photos past and present. Anyone interested in seeing the full sets of pictures (and a couple more video clips than I'm posting here) feel free to check out the TMBG Concert Photo Blog.
Regular art posts return shortly!

From the Birmingham show:

A partial video clip of "Older", complete with confetti!

From the Atlanta kids show

A partial (and visually low quality) video clip of the Homestar Runner puppet's
appearance and song.

Jenn & Bueno: Saint Patties

Here we have just a horrible, horrible pun in honor of St. Patrick's Day. I actually used this pun in a rough Jenn & Bueno sketch a few years ago, but decided to make a finished piece with it this year. And in addition to the usual pencil prelims, I've included another extra doodle. Enjoy!

Money Hide & Seek

Here is another two-page comic that was done for U Magazine (Spring 2008 edition). In it we join Bill the Bill as he tries to find a safe hiding place for his money. This is the most recent one...I'm posting the previous one today as well...because I forgot to ever post it last time! The client was Big Blue Dot.

A Trip to the U.S. Mint

Here is another two-page comic that was done for U Magazine (Winter 2007 edition). In it we join Bill the Bill as he pays a visit to the U.S. Mint, using the money he saved in the previous comic. The client was Big Blue Dot.

(The blank space at the end of the second page was for the client to add their own features.)
