Poison Ivy

Cue up the classic by The Coasters, here comes Poison Ivy!

The second in the triumvirate of Gotham Girl pieces I recently did inspired by poses in photo references (the full background on that is found in the previous post with Harley Quinn). I'll post the third next week. Enjoy!

Harley Quinn

Here's the Joker's main squeeze, Harley Quinn, engaging in her own special brand of fun in the bedroom.

This picture started out as a simple Drawing Jam on the Drawing Board. The subject of the month was actress Hayden Panettiere. I was in a bit of a drawing slump, so I selected one of the three given photos and was going to do a fairly straightforward rendition just for practice. The next thing I know, my rough sketches took on a life of their own and this Harley Quinn idea was born. And I had so much fun with it, that I've taken the other two provided Hayden photos and turned them into pieces featuring other Gotham Girls. You'll see those soon. For now, Enjoy!

A Safe Spot For Bill's New Bike

What do you know, another one of those rare "two-posts-in-one-week" weeks.

Here is another two-page comic that was done for U Magazine (Winter 2008 edition). In it we join Bill the Bill on his eighth adventure. This time he's learning how to properly care for his new bicycle The client was Big Blue Dot.

NOTE: I had successfully spent the past 31 years avoiding drawing bicycles (which may be an even bigger artistic kryptonite for me than regular vehicles and buildings), when I was assigned this comic, which is all about bikes! I'm not complaining about the work, mind you...I'm just apologizing for the horrendous quality of the "bikes" yo
u see in this comic.

ANOTHER NOTE: I also did artwork for an interactive game you can play on the USAA website, based on the content of this particular comic. I only did the artwork--the client put it all to animation. The game is linked to on the UMag webpage, or you can click here to go directly to the game.

Christmas Gift Commissions

Before I forget to post them, here are a couple of gift commissions I did for a couple of good friends this Christmas. Probably a lot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans over the years have received some manner of TMNT artwork for Christmas. The Gnocchi picture, on the other hand, is probably the first incident in recorded human history of a specific request for cartoon gnocchi art as a Christmas present. You gotta love in-jokes that take on a life of their own.

More Ave. Q

Back in December I had a chance to see the hilarious Broadway musical, Avenue Q, for the second time in a year. This time it was at the BJCC in Birmingham, AL. As was the case the first time around, I was inspired to do some fan art afterwards. Now that I've finally had time to finish them, here are Kate Monster, Princeton, Lucy the Slut, Nicky, and Rod! Enjoy!

And below is the Trekkie Monster and Bad Idea Bears that I drew the first time
I saw it. They all shape up to make a nice little set, don't they? DON'T THEY?!
