Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows Ch. 4

Finally, some Harry Potter fan art from Deathly Hallows. Prepare for some scrolling! This rather widescreen piece is inspired by the scene in chapter 4 when members from the Order of the Phoenix first arrive to escort Harry from the Dursley's home for the final time. Enjoy!

Thanks you both for the comments!

Hi,

Just stumbled across your site via Google and a search for "multiple jacks" (don't ask). I quite like your Harry Potter stuff - its pretty good. But I'm wondering, how much would you say your art has been affected by the images of Harry Potter and co from the movies? For example, your Hagrid, Snape, and Filch all look very similar to the ones from the movies? And, if you'd started drawing them before you'd seen the films, do you think your impressions would have been different?

I know Joss Whedon (Buffy/Angel/Firefly) has always said he refuses to watch any of the Harry Potter movies and tries to stay away from any imagery etc as much as possible, until after he's read the last book because feels it will affect his personal interpretation. And, having just finished the Deathly Hallows a couple of weeks back, I must admit, the Snape in my head sounds very Alan Rickman like - so much so that I can't even remember what my own Snape sounded like.

Anyway, rambling comment, but there you have it. Great stuff tho'.

nazp: Hi, and thanks for the comment! (I only just not discovered it, so I hope my answering your question hasn't taken too long).

As far as my Harry Potter interpretations being inspired by the movies, they aren't intentionally inspired by the movies at all! There are very few characters in the movies that even come close to the way I picture them in my head from the books.

However, I can't say whether or not the movies may have had a subconscious effect on some of my interpretations. I suppose it's possible, because once you've seen something visually, it can have a way of sticking in your brain. But I definitely only tried to capture what's in my head from reading (and even that can be tricky to successfully capture on paper just as your mind sees it).

Snape in my head sounds likes Alan Rickman now, too.
